December 10, 2013

We recently completed a beautiful kitchen renovation in Lincolnshire, Illinois. In this project, Stacy Carsello, Designer at Seigles Cabinet Center in Mundelein helped the clients with a first floor remodel. The homeowners were striving for elegance and sophistication in a gray scale. Their impeccable taste shows in the finished product.

The homeowners couldn’t be more pleased: “We are very happy with the results…Thanks for  your help and expertise in building our dream kitchen!”

Check out the beautiful new kitchen in the video below!

Perimeter Cabinetry: Dura Supreme, Maple White
Island Cabinetry: Dura Supreme, Graphite
Key Features: Circular mullions in the bar area were key to the design. There were some tricky soffit and beam issues, but between Dura Supreme’s custom modifications and an excellent trim carpenter, those issues became design features in the ceiling detail.

Kitchen
In the kitchen we have Décora Prescott inset cabinets painted white. The top doors in the 48” high stacked wall cabinets all have clear glass and a 2 piece crown moulding go to the 9’0” ceiling. Inset panel ends are on all the exposed ends and panels on the fronts of the refrigerator and dishwasher to maintain a consistent look in the kitchen. The island has an open shelf at one end and wine storage on the other end. The back of island is finished with wainscoting.

Breakfast Area
The breakfast area uses the same inset cabinetry as the kitchen. Peninsula wall cabinets with mullion doors are used and can be seen from the kitchen or great-room.

Bulter’s Pantry
In the butler’s pantry, the same look as the kitchen was maintained with painted inset cabinets. The center wall cabinet is bumped out and staggered to the ceiling. The sink base below is also bumped out and 2 tapered legs replace the toe kick. On the ends, the wall cabinets have three drawers below that set on the counter top and match the three drawer base cabinet below.

Master Bathroom
In the master bath, we have cherry chocolate cabinetry. The arch toe kicks on the vanities are used to give a furniture look and feel.

Basement Bar
The basement bar is meant for entertaining with a large wet bar using Diamond cherry cabinets with glazing. The wall cabinets are staggered with the corner and two end cabinets bumped out and raised going to the ceiling with crown moulding. Bead board is used as back panels of the base cabinets to finish the look of the bar.

New Cabinets Help Create a Beautiful Home after a Tornado

October 25, 2012

It all began 2 years ago when a tornado destroyed their country home. After months of planning, the new residence began to take shape. We chose Dura Supreme cabinetry made in Minnesota. The cabinetry is built with quality in mind and styled just right. Read more about each feature, and the careful thought behind every detail.

Family room bar. We pulled the center cabinet forward for little cost. We also raised the end base and wall cabinet to add interest.

Powder room. The cabinet on the left and right isn’t as deep as the center cabinet creating a stepped effect. Also, we kept the cabinet away from the wall on each end, giving the vanity a furniture piece look.

Changing room bath. This bath is off the natatorium. It has towels rolled up and stored in the cubes on top of the counter. Notice the drawer that pulls out to store the extractor that takes the water out of your swimming suit. This homeowner thought of everything!

Drop zone. The angled end cabinet gives you the feeling of a wider walkway. It also gives this area interest and is still useful storage.

Fireplace cabinetry. Pre-finished trim was ordered and the trim carpenter built in the bookcases and TV. We added beadboard back to the bookcases. The bottom right drawer is cut out for speaker cloth.

Kitchen. Gorgeous painted maple cabinetry are at staggered heights. The 48” range has a pot filler faucet and a 90” wide wood hood. The 2 side towers pull out to store spices. The big 6” posts on the left and right of the range store more spices and the other side has a pull out knife block. Decorative end panels, large crown and light rail completes the look. The contrast color island has open book shelves on both ends, sink, and 2 dishwashers, a must for entertaining lots of company. Open shelf space above the freezer and refrigerator makes a fashion statement. Did you wonder where the least attractive kitchen appliance was—the microwave? It’s between the freezer and refrigerator, behind a lift up door.

Morning bar. This cabinetry is in the master bedroom. We added an arch bottom rail to the upper cabinet to create visual interest. The under counter beverage center has a panel on the front to match the cabinetry. This also keeps this area formal looking.

Master bath. There is lots of storage and style in this cherry wood cabinetry. The arched panel valance adds a dramatic effect.

Tiki bar. This area is at one end of the natatorium. The cabinets have a rattan center panel and are made of lyptus wood. This combination creates an exotic look.

Every room in this gorgeous home is special, in part due to the wonderful cabinetry selected. Of course, a large part of the credit for this extraordinary residence goes to John Matustik of Matustik Builders. John’s skilled workmanship, attention to detail, and patience were a vital component in the successful outcome.

Success Story: Wilmette Home Receives Beautiful Corian Countertops

April 5, 2012

Seigle’s is extremely well known for our cabinets and we also are currently making a name for ourselves with countertops. “Whether it’s wood, Corian, quartz, or granite, you can count on the Seigles staff to have the knowledge to guide you in the best choice of countertop materials for your kitchen, bath, home office or entertainment areas,” said Stacy Carsello, Seigle’s Design Consultant.

Carsello recently helped to complete a beautiful home in Wilmette for the Thompson family. Here’s what Stacy had to say about the remodel:

“The Thompson kitchen is a good example of how extensive our offerings can be. The client loved Corian’s Witch Hazel for its look of marble and its durability—and we have to agree. Corian’s Witch Hazel is a great alternative to marble. We loved it so much that we put a display  in our Mundelein and Geneva showrooms.  Corian is a versatile product that allows for seamless installation, has long lasting durability, is hygienic, and has unlimited design capabilities.

The Thompson’s also chose to do a butcher block wood top in Black Walnut. Customers may not know that wood cutting boards and countertops actually kill food poisoning bacteria that might otherwise live on a plastic cutting board. A study from the University of Wisconsin on bacteria such as E.Coli and Salmonella t left over night on plastic and wood cutting boards found the bacteria had multiplied on the plastic and virtually could not be found on the wood after only 3 hours. The only maintenance required for wood tops is occasionally oiling them to keep them conditioned. There are numerous edge treatments, patterns, thicknesses, and wood species to chose from.”

Marble kitchen island with all the right curves: Success Story

February 27, 2012

We recently completed a beautiful marble kitchen island in Buffalo Grove using Valley Gold Marble in an Antique Finish. Here’s what our Kitchen Design Consultant Stacy Carsello had to say about the finished product:

My client was in love with the beauty of marble for the kitchen but was aware of marble’s limitations for the kitchen. The compromise was making the island the focal point with the Valley Gold Marble. The client had a picture of a marble island from a magazine, and I was determined to give her that look. The marble was laminated around the edge to give it a 6 cm thickness with a double ogee edge.

The curves of the island were key to the design. Behind the scenes, the challenge was to achieve those curves and thickness and still maintain the proper distance between the island and perimeter. The lamination and double thickness require a greater overhang. Working closely with our fabricator’s engineering department, we were able achieve those curves. The end result… a happy customer.

Success Stories: Beautiful custom wheel chair accessible cabinets

February 16, 2012

Traci and Hugo Fernandez wanted their new Batavia home to be both accessible and beautiful. For wheelchair access cabinet manufacturers offer Universal Design cabinetry that has an eight inch toe kick and a height that is 2″ lower than standard cabinets. Traci found that the 8″ toe kick on these cabinets didn’t give her any more accessibility in her wheel chair and decreased the amount of valuable storage space.

So instead, Seigles ordered standard Diamond base cabinets without a toe kick. Those base cabinets were placed on a custom 2-1/2″ platform built by Brad Kath of Thornbrook Construction. The platform was covered with base molding, giving the cabinets the furniture look Traci and Hugo desired. The accessible counter height of 34″ was achieved, and they have the storage space of standard cabinets.

In addition, their kitchen is as beautiful as it is accessible. A second sink to the right of the range allows Traci to fill a pot with water and easily place it on  the cook top. A base pullout pantry cabinet keeps spices and cooking oils in reach. The microwave is placed in a base cabinet, which is convenient for the whole family. A table height breakfast bar on the front side of the island is a great place to help the kids with homework.

In the master bathroom, table style vanities comprised of Diamond Vibe decorative legs and trim pieces are as functional as they are stylish. Aristokraft cabinets in the loft provide a great work space for the kids!

Enjoy these “after” photos of the beautiful results.
