We recently completed a beautiful kitchen remodel in Dundee, Illinois. In this project, the homeowner wanted a banquette instead of a dining table. The trim carpenter made the banquette and the table to match the cabinets in cherry wood, including soapstone countertops. Check out the dramatic transformation in the video below!

The Role of Pinterest in Kitchen Design

July 11, 2013

By Stacy Carsello, Seigle’s showroom designer, Mundelein

Pinterest has become a valuable tool for consumers to find new and creative ideas for their home.  Our clients often see designs on Pinterest they like for their kitchen or bath, and it’s my job as a Seigle’s designer to find a way to make it work.

One of our clients found a new organizational method for kitchen drawers on Pinterest and brought it to us to see what we could do.

DuraSupreme Drawer

Seigle’s design

I used Dura Supreme Cabinetry specifically for the custom modifications that they offer. I took the cabinet below my client’s cooktop and modified the bottom drawer to be taller to fit cookie sheets and cutting boards which made the top drawer smaller – perfect for utensil storage.  I then used a modification to partition the drawers resulting in plenty of organized storage.

Kitchen
In the kitchen we have Décora Prescott inset cabinets painted white. The top doors in the 48” high stacked wall cabinets all have clear glass and a 2 piece crown moulding go to the 9’0” ceiling. Inset panel ends are on all the exposed ends and panels on the fronts of the refrigerator and dishwasher to maintain a consistent look in the kitchen. The island has an open shelf at one end and wine storage on the other end. The back of island is finished with wainscoting.

Breakfast Area
The breakfast area uses the same inset cabinetry as the kitchen. Peninsula wall cabinets with mullion doors are used and can be seen from the kitchen or great-room.

Bulter’s Pantry
In the butler’s pantry, the same look as the kitchen was maintained with painted inset cabinets. The center wall cabinet is bumped out and staggered to the ceiling. The sink base below is also bumped out and 2 tapered legs replace the toe kick. On the ends, the wall cabinets have three drawers below that set on the counter top and match the three drawer base cabinet below.

Master Bathroom
In the master bath, we have cherry chocolate cabinetry. The arch toe kicks on the vanities are used to give a furniture look and feel.

Basement Bar
The basement bar is meant for entertaining with a large wet bar using Diamond cherry cabinets with glazing. The wall cabinets are staggered with the corner and two end cabinets bumped out and raised going to the ceiling with crown moulding. Bead board is used as back panels of the base cabinets to finish the look of the bar.

Successful Small Kitchen Remodel, Before and After

December 1, 2011

The Rosenfeld kitchen remodel was a project we did in Elgin, IL. It was a snug little kitchen, and it needed serious updating.

The owners had a few goals in mind:

  • Smarter use of existing space
  • More light (Northern exposure)
  • Major update in style (those plywood doors had to go)
  • New appliances
  • A company to take the project from start to finish

The Rosenfeld’s wanted a style that would put a “craftsman” look in the kitchen, and quality that would last them the rest of their lives. Dura Supreme fit the bill. They had this door available in Quarter Sawn Oak, an absolutely beautiful door! Dura Supreme Cabinetry offers this style, a durable finish, and custom sizes at an affordable price, and had many storage options for this layout. They selected Zodiaq for their tops to complement their kitchen because of the color options, durability, and the best warranty in the business.

We provided installation through Seigle’s “Pro-Install” program which gave them peace of mind that the job would be done correctly by skilled tradesmen. To get more light in the kitchen they replaced their window with a larger one. They also added a Solar Tube to get more natural light into the kitchen, along with can lights and under cabinet lights. We added glass and lights to the corner cabinets, which seemed to visually open up the end of the kitchen. We gained space in the corners with the new stove, this meant we could add lazy susan cabinets there and gain storage in both corners. With the microwave over the stove, we now gained more counter space as well.

John Hancock Unit Renovation Success Story

July 8, 2011

We recently completed a project for #5420, which was a complete renovation of a unit at the John Hancock Center in Chicago. Seigle’s supplied the cabinets in the Kitchen and Butler’s Pantry. The cabinetry was Ultracraft, which, according to Sales Consultant Gloria Jones is “a fabulous frameless line perfect for city living.” The finish was a dramatic high gloss finish called Dark Ebony II on a slab Adriatic door.

Enjoy this incredible video of the renovation, which shows the before and after shots of the unit. Several pictures feature the amazing finished product of the cabinets.

Customer Testimonial: Appreciation and Sincere Gratitude for Tracey Paulson

December 20, 2010

A recent testimonial of gratitude for Tracey Paulson, a Seigle’s Cabinet Center employee:

“I want to express my appreciation and sincere gratitude for a job well done by Tracey Paulson.

We moved into the Talamore community in Huntley in May of this year. The kitchen was lovely, but we wanted to personalize and maximize its potential. My husband and I sat down to brainstorm. I was overwhelmed by the choices initially. We called your company and set up an appointment with Tracey. From the beginning she had incredible ideas and vision. I felt immediately at ease and relaxed with the project because she was so knowledgeable, creative, and thorough. She spent a lot of quality time with us. We met with her in the office, with her tremendous insight and information we were able to plan out the kitchen perfectly. Then, she came to our home after her work hours to assist further. She sent us drawings over a course of a few weeks, constantly updating any changes or additions. (more…)
