Trend Alert! Drawer Dish Storage

August 31, 2013

At Seigle’s, our team is full of kitchen and cabinet design experts who notice emerging trends quite often. Because of this, they are able to help you plan and personalize your remodeling projects. Recently our Design Consultant Stacy Carsello noticed a trend that’s perfect for those looking for more organization and storage possibilities.pegged-dish-storage

“One of the latest trends Seigle’s is seeing is dish storage in drawers. It’s a popular option for our senior clients who don’t like to have to lift heavy dishes into an upper cabinet. Ruth Prais of Lake Bluff loves the pegged dish drawer option we provided from Decora Cabinetry,” said Carsello. “Families with children love it too, so the kids have access to setting the table and emptying the dishwasher without help.”

If you’d like help with designing your kitchen for maximum storage with the latest trends and designs, make an appointment to visit Seigle’s today.

The Role of Pinterest in Kitchen Design

July 11, 2013

By Stacy Carsello, Seigle’s showroom designer, Mundelein

Pinterest has become a valuable tool for consumers to find new and creative ideas for their home.  Our clients often see designs on Pinterest they like for their kitchen or bath, and it’s my job as a Seigle’s designer to find a way to make it work.

One of our clients found a new organizational method for kitchen drawers on Pinterest and brought it to us to see what we could do.

DuraSupreme Drawer

Seigle’s design

I used Dura Supreme Cabinetry specifically for the custom modifications that they offer. I took the cabinet below my client’s cooktop and modified the bottom drawer to be taller to fit cookie sheets and cutting boards which made the top drawer smaller – perfect for utensil storage.  I then used a modification to partition the drawers resulting in plenty of organized storage.

Aristokraft Launches New Cabinet Styles and Finishes for 2013

April 30, 2013

At Seigles, one of our great cabinet suppliers is Aristokraft, who just recently announced their launch of new products. We are featuring a few of our favorites from Aristokraft Vanwyketheir line below.

Vanwyke Door Style in White
This clean, simple door is in a transitional shaker style that will work with both modern and traditional decor. The recessed panel offers a subtle, stylish detail. The white option is simple, but creates the base for a dramatic look.

Aristokraft Overton Purstyle

Overton Purestyle in Toasted Antique, Wentworth Maple in Umber Finish
The Overton PureStyle door offers classic lines for those with a clean, modern style. And the Umber finish, available on Birch, Maple, Cherry, Rustic Birch, and Oak, offers a warm, nutty color without traditional red. These rich browns offer earthy, natural tones.

If you’d like to see more of what Aristokraft offers make an appointment at Seigles today.

Success Stories: New Cabinetry in Winnetka, IL

April 23, 2013

Seigle’s recently finished a home remodel with North Shore Builders just one block from Lake Michigan in Winnetka, IL. This brand new construction home features MasterBrand Cabinetry throughout with brands including Décora Cabinets and Diamond Cabinets.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Kitchen
In the kitchen we have Décora Prescott inset cabinets painted white. The top doors in the 48” high stacked wall cabinets all have clear glass and a 2 piece crown moulding go to the 9’0” ceiling. Inset panel ends are on all the exposed ends and panels on the fronts of the refrigerator and dishwasher to maintain a consistent look in the kitchen. The island has an open shelf at one end and wine storage on the other end. The back of island is finished with wainscoting.

Breakfast Area
The breakfast area uses the same inset cabinetry as the kitchen. Peninsula wall cabinets with mullion doors are used and can be seen from the kitchen or great-room.

Bulter’s Pantry
In the butler’s pantry, the same look as the kitchen was maintained with painted inset cabinets. The center wall cabinet is bumped out and staggered to the ceiling. The sink base below is also bumped out and 2 tapered legs replace the toe kick. On the ends, the wall cabinets have three drawers below that set on the counter top and match the three drawer base cabinet below.

Master Bathroom
In the master bath, we have cherry chocolate cabinetry. The arch toe kicks on the vanities are used to give a furniture look and feel.

Basement Bar
The basement bar is meant for entertaining with a large wet bar using Diamond cherry cabinets with glazing. The wall cabinets are staggered with the corner and two end cabinets bumped out and raised going to the ceiling with crown moulding. Bead board is used as back panels of the base cabinets to finish the look of the bar.

Zillow Digs: Check Out Remodeled Rooms and Their Estimated Costs

March 14, 2013

We recently found a site anyone remodeling a home should consider visiting: Zillow Digs. Like Houzz and Pinterest, this site allows you to view pictures that people have posted or that Zillow pulled from home listings so you can be inspired for your own home remodel. But Zillow Digs takes it a step further and allows you to see the estimated cost to replicate each remodel. Zillow hired contractors to come up with these costs, so you can have a real idea of whether this remodel is within reach of your budget.

A few things you can do on the site:
• Search by which space you are remodeling, the style that you like, or cost
• Search for elements from a room, like “granite” or “quartz” if you are considering a specific material, design element, or brand
• Each image has an estimate in the corner
• Like images and save to your boards, similar to Pinterest
• Like or comment on images to leave your thoughts

Here’s a Washington Post article about this site, where you can get more information.

Check out Zillow Digs to inspire your remodeling project, and stay within budget. If you like particular cabinets or countertops make an appointment at Seigles so we can get you an estimate to make your dreams a reality!
